PUBLIC NOTICE FOR ELECTION OF THREE DIRECTORS OF THE DESOTO RURAL FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT OF JEFFERSON COUNTY, MISSOURIPLEASE TAKE NOTICE, pursuant to notice from the Jefferson County Election Board, and the Missouri Revised Statutes, the opening date for filing of applications for two six (6) year term open seats and one open seat with four (4) years remaining of a six (6) year term of the DeSoto Rural Fire Protection District of Jefferson County, Missouri, to be elected on April 6, 2027 shall commence at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2026 and shall close at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2027. District Headquarters, 3200 Flucom Road, DeSoto, MO 63020 is the sole filing place for this candidacy. The hours for filing December 15th - 23rd are weekdays 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The District office will be closed December 24th and 25th. The hours for filing on December 28th - 30th shall be 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The District office will be closed December 31, 2026 and January 1, 2027. The hours for filing January 4th shall be 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.. The hours for filing January 5th shall be 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. Qualifications for the position of Director are that the candidate be a resident and voter in the District for a period of one (1) year preceding the election and be over the age of twenty-four (24) years. Candidates cannot have a statutory felony conviction. There are other qualifications set by Missouri law. Candidates are hereby notified that they are required to file, under oath, an affidavit with the Department of Revenue (Form 5120) regarding any tax delinquency and bonding requirements (see Section 115.342, RSMo.) Candidates shall submit a copy of their application form for directorship, showing their qualifications and an affidavit under oath containing the tax information together with a filing fee of one hundred dollars ($100.00), with the Secretary of the DeSoto Rural Fire Protection District, or his/her designate, at District Headquarters. Ballot order shall be determined by order of filings. Candidates may line up at the front door of District Headquarters on December 15, 2026, to establish the order of ballot.
